Hello, I am an In House Lawyer, and DPO for Germany, for a leading market provider of financial data and regulatory services. I work as part of a large EMEA legal team, with responsibilities for French and German speaking countries in Continental Europe in particular. My tasks can include negotiating, drafting and advising on contractual and commercial matters - including with some of the largest financial institutions and banks in Europe. I also assist with any other legal matters such as compliance issues, subject-specific legal queries. My job requires a solid grasp of commercial law principles in the UK, France and Germany in particular, as well as expertise in various finance-related legislation which impacts on our client base and services. I am also acting Data Protection Officer for the German Office, advising the business on various policies and initiatives relating to privacy law and the GDPR in particular. I am happy to pass on my experience as legal professional, and the path that I chose to get there. Originally from Ireland, I can hopefully offer a unique perspective in terms of my learning and working experiences in other countries, as well as the importance language skills can have for job prospects.
