Présentation de Sylvie
Hello everyone, I am currently doing consulting work for the new Medical School established in Austin since 2017, helping them develop and grow their Diagnostic Medicine Department. I have also worked in Academia and in Industry, focussing on Molecular Biomarker discovery for Diagnostics. As a consultant, I am mostly working from home. Using my connections at the University of Texas in Austin and in Industry, I help my Department at the new Med School make connections with PIs on the main UT campus or with industry to develop a very collaborative environment and bring new technologies on the campus (research and core facilities). The Austin Dell Medical School is only 3 years old and is still a big startup. I evaluate potential Diagnostics opportunities originating from the research made on the UT campus. I survey research and clinical needs on both sides of the campus, write reports, make slides, co-organize seminars, etc.. I received my PhD from UPMC in 1988 and received a tenure research position with INSERM in 1989. I started my career at the Pasteur Institute, studying Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs) and their role in the development in cervical cancer. I moved to the US to pursue a postdoc in Academia. I moved to Industry in 2005 to study and evaluate the clinical diagnostic utility of miRNAs whose expression is altered during carcinogenesis. I left Industry in 2014 following a major company reorganization and have been a consultant for startups, as well as for more established companies, since. I would be happy to talk to you about my experience in both Academia and Industry. Sylvie
