Hello! I am a post doctoral researcher. My current research project consists mainly in investigating neuroinflammatory mechanisms in Neurodegenerative diseases. I generate microglia (brain resident innate immune cells) from patient specific induced pluripotent stem cells, bearing various disease-related risk genes. I then analyse in-vitro the effect of these gene risk factors on the phenotype and function of microglia cells and screen for new disease modifier molecules. Another part of my work consists in collecting patients bio-samples (blood and serum) for the evaluation of their peripheral inflammatory status: adaptive and innate immune compartiments, extracellular and intracellular markers expression, cytokines and chemokines release... Overall my current research project aims to gain a better understanding of specific neuroinflammatory mechanisms in relation to disease genetic risk factors and translate the findings into new therapeutic opportunities.
